Who is your favorite disability advocate, living or dead?

  1. What an impossible question! I think my “favorite” advocate is Arthur Cambell Jr because he has a lifetime of efforts and his brilliant mind (all self taught). But I also have to mention Darrell Mattingly whose reliability and commitment are the benchmark for all of us to aspire to. And Frankie Huffman who, as a young advocate, brings so much energy and new approaches. I’d have to put Bev Harp up at the top too, because she is a catalyst for change and in a million gentle ways challenges everything you’ve ever assumed. I’m also appreciative for all the folks who have encouraged me along the way, sometimes just listening when we can’t yet affect change. Advocacy is a long game, and we have to keep each other engaged and supported (Tina Jackson is VERY good at that, as is Dave Mathis).

  2. Arhtur Campbell is the one and only! What a life, what a journey, what a fighter! And here is a shout out to Marsha Van Hook who tried her best to affect change.

  3. I had the opportunity to meet Judy Heumann twice. Really, you can’t talk about diability advocates without talking about her. She did a lot!

  4. Arthur Campbell Jr. is my favorite but Judy Heumennn is a close second. We followed each other on X.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Arthur and sitting at some of the same tables with him.

    1. He is a true blessing to us all
